Looking
for something unusual? How about 'The Elephant' played on a Serpent? Or an Italian Rant on
a Lizard?
I
play some of the most obscure musical instruments ever invented, and can talk
entertainingly on their history and use.
I am Chief Waite of the King's Lynn
Waites - a Medieval and Renaissance Town Band, and I can also sing you bawdy ballads,
accompanying myself on the cittern or the lute.
My daughter, Elizabeth Gutteridge and I perform together as the Renaissance duo, Wyldes Noyse.
I am Musical Director of The Norfolk Gallery Quire - a re-creation of a typical village church choir in pre-Victorian times, accompanied by the village band. The band, The Fall Of Eve, can also perform dances and marches from the 18th and early 19th centuries.
I am also Musical Director of Hunstanton Concert Band.
Here they are, playing Von Suppé's Light Cavalry Overture:-
I'm happy to appear for you in any of the above capacities. Check on the calendar to see if I'm available on the date of your choice.
Together with my friend Dr James Merryweather, I founded, and for many years ran, The Waits Website - a vast and comprehensive academic site designed to accumulate and disseminate knowledge of the Renaissance civic bands of Britain and Europe, and I am a life member, director and trustee of The International Guild of Town Pipers, registered charity number 1124144.
I am also a professional website designer with a wide range of sites of all types and styles, though I tend to specialise in sites for the arts. See White Cottage Websites for a list of my sites.
