Concert 7.30pm on 11th February at Headgate Theatre Colchester

Workshop 12th & 13th February 2011, 10.30am-4.30pm at Fingringhoe Primary School

The Colchester Waits and Colchester Historical Dance have again asked Chris Elmes and Cait Webb of the group Gaita to visit Essex and give a weekend of workshops to group members and the public in February. Gaita are specialists in Medieval music, dance and performance practice. They have published several CDs as well as books of music and dance steps from the 12th-15th Centuries.

This time Chris Cait and Lizzie Gutteridge will also be giving a concert on Friday 11th February at 7.30pm at the Headgate Theatre in Colchester. The concert will cover the 15thC dance music to be studied over the weekend, as well as it 13th & 14thC influences. Entry to the concert is free to workshop participants and is £8/£5 to the public.

The Saturday morning workshop will be dedicated to learning about the dance types and steps of the period and to looking at some original source material. On Saturday afternoon musicians will work with Chris on purely musical matters while the dancers work with Cait on their dance steps and style. Then on Sunday we will work to put everything together, making sure that the music fits the dance and visa-versa.

For further information or to book your place please contact Lizzie Gutteridge: email or call 01206 212466, or send off the booking form below.

The venue is Fingringhoe Primary School, Church Road, Fingringhoe, Colchester, Essex, CO5 7BN.
